Mental Health in Australia: Why We Exist

At Strength to Strength Mental & Physical Healthcare, we are driven by the urgent need to support Australians living with mental health challenges. The statistics speak for themselves:

  • 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental health condition each year

  • 1 in 2 Australians will experience one in their lifetime

  • Over 1 million Australians live with depression, and 2 million with anxiety

  • First Nations Peoples are nearly twice as likely to die by suicide

  • Indigenous Australians are almost three times more likely to experience psychological distress

  • LGBTIQ+ communities face significantly higher rates of mental health challenges

  • CALD communities need greater access to early intervention services

  • And half of all mental health conditions begin by age 14

These numbers reflect real people, real lives — and a real need for accessible, compassionate, and holistic care.
